Holiday Giveaway! Unique Gift: Custom Jewelry from Bella Vita

Personally, I love handmade jewelry. When I was a teenager my mother had a jewelry making hobby – she would make me earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Whether it was for a special dance/party or for everyday wear, I never had the same accessories as the other girls – and I loved standing out because of it.

When I was asked to do a giveaway for Bella Vita, I jumped at the chance because obviously handmade jewelry has a special place in my heart. Plus, her pieces are beautiful works of art. She specializes in the unique and each one is custom made to order. Many are one of a kind!

The artists name is Brandy Thomason, and founded Bella Vita in 2008 after a lifetime love of jewelry making – and her passion shines through every unique piece she makes! Her inspiration comes from her love of design:

When designing the daintiest of pieces or bold statement jewelry, I love searching for the perfect gems, beads or vintage treasures and combining all the different materials in my studio to create wearable works of art that appeal to the everyday “Bella Vita girl.” I find inspiration in the materials themselves, high fashion blogs and magazines, art museums or the naturally occurring color palettes I see when I take walks with my dog.

Sara lee pound cake recipe

For National Pound Cake day, Sara Lee has given me the pleasure of giving away coupons for Free Sara Lee Poundcake. With this opportunity, I wanted to share my FAVORITE pound cake recipe. This is a quick and easy recipe passed down from my mother to me, and with it great childhood memories. This dessert was sometimes dinner when mom was watching us by herself in the summer, and we lovingly get together for our “special dinner” in the summer every year! That, and ice cream sundaes…which would be yummy with pound cake too! I mean, really, can you go wrong with pound cake?

You need:

  • 1 Sara Lee Pound Cake
  • 1 can of Chocolate Pudding
  • Strawberries
  • 1 tub of whipped topping
  • 1 bag of Chocolate Chips

It a large (preferable clear, so you can see all the pretty colors!) bowl, Layer the ingredients as so:

  • Pound cake (cut into 1 inch thick cubes), Strawberries (sliced so they lay flat), Whipped Topping, Pudding – And layer, layer, layer!

It’s that easy! Then you refridgerate it until it all gets nice and chilly, and dig in. SOOOO GOOD.

The Mommy Day Planner (Dotmine Day Planners Review and Giveaway!)

When I became a mom, I had no idea. I thought my mind was good enough to remember appointments, milestones, and special events – boy was I wrong! I think the first year that L was born, I missed more than 3 appointments, and when something happened I wanted to remember to write down – did I? Nope. Nope. Nope. I had the best intentions, but I didn’t have the tool to make it all happen. I tried those brown spiral planners you can pick up at the grocery store, but it didn’t work for long notes, or memory keeping. Also, organizing my work life and blog life along with my family life – this little brown planner wasn’t going to get the job done. I needed to be inspired to keep myself organized, have something I could pop into my purse or work bag, and it had to be durable.

Being the designer that I am, I need to be surrounded by beautiful things, and when I got this little guy in the mail, I was pleased. The cover is made out of a durable, soft, easy to open light blue pleather, and has a sturdy fastener to keep the planner closed when it is flying around in your purse or briefcase. The inside also caught my eye both with bright patterns of the inside covers, and the brilliant way it is laid out!

This planner is laid out in three ways, going from the general master schedule to a place to keep detailed notes about your day:

There is also a handy little pocket in the back to keep lose leaf pictures, receipts, tickets, anything you want kept together within your planner. I love this little planner, and it already has a place in my Big ole’ mommy purse. =)
