34 weeks pregnant

34 weeks pregnantWell here I am, 34 weeks pregnant! Seems like the last month went by pretty fast.

We are almost done with the nursery – the last two weeks of painting were pretty hard to get done because of the flu – but there is light at the end of the tunnel! And the pink color we picked is perfect, and so bright. My kids rooms always seem to be the funnest ones in the house! We used/are using Olympic One – and not having to prime has been a life saver. I was so surprised at how well it works, and can’t wait to use the same paint on the rest of the house! The white is especially bright (we repainted her ceiling and closet in white) and putting it on the ceiling really brightened up the room! So clean!

I also spent the last month ordering and buying 0-3 month clothes. She is now set for longsleeve and short sleeve onsies, sleepers, hats, mittens, pants and socks for the first three months of her life. That made me feel better to get that done – well for now. I know that I will be buying cute outfits and probably end up with a surplus around Christmas time!

I also went through what we still had from when L was a baby, I am so glad I kept all his stuff. Crib sheets, blankets etc. Oh and all the little soft baby toys I washed and put away! I was a little tearful going through all of his baby stuff – remembering when he was a little peanut. Excited to have another peanut in the house – and how fast it goes by…

She’s been pretty active in the tummy this past month too – and finally spun herself around to be head down. I can tell because she found the way out – LOL. So. Much. Pressure. down there! Woo. Sometimes, I feel little feet on my rib cage pushing her down even further. I remember L doing this too…but during LABOR.

I also had a little scare with contractions last week. I was having them every time I stood up – to the point where I was stuck on the couch and in bed on Friday. I called up my mom (who is a retired OB nurse) and we figured out that I have a bladder infection. I’m so bad at recognizing those symptoms because I don’t feel them as strongly as other women do. Usually my only inkling is that my pee is toooo yellow. So I had the doctor on call call me in some antibiotics, and am drinking cranberry juice religiously. Contractions have backed off.

I am getting increasingly tired – and looking forward to that last burst of energy you are supposed to get before labor begins. She is soooo heavy – I am not worried that she will be underweight like I was with L.

Oh and my bad bad bad pregnancy craving? Cake.  A specific cake from VG’s ( a local grocery store that makes the BEST cake with buttercream frosting ) I am about to polish one off that I made my husband go get me in the middle of the night last week… mmmm.

So I had my 34 week appointment on Thursday and found out that I have high blood pressure. He wasn’t really too alarmed about it, until I told him about the headaches I had been having all week. I have been ordered to take it easy, and come back Monday and Thursday of next week to get checked. It’s really scary, because I have had a pretty much picture perfect pregnancy so far, and I am a little scared about this turning into hypertension. But, Matt has been taking care of me, and making sure I have my feet up and am relaxed. So maybe it was just a fluke.

Just wanted to update on that. Other than that we are having a pretty good weekend.

I did get out of the house yesterday with Matt and did some baby shopping/nerd shopping/fun shopping. It had been a while since we just threw caution into the wind and spent money. It felt good. But we won’t get used to it again. We used to shop constantly in Portland, but I think it was because we were making a lot more money there, and I was always needing retail therapy from missing everyone so much. Now I have this baby to buy for, and it is sooo much fun.

Okay, I should get back in bed. Yay. If the doctor puts me on bedrest, you better believe I am getting netbook.

So I haven’t been blogging much on here because I have been addicted to Twitter. I have changed my username on there to: Megsamommy so add me if you like!

Let’s see what has gone on since the end of last year? A WHOLE HECK OF ALOT! I am now 34 weeks pregnant, and yeah, not feeling so small anymore:

‘L’ is a big big boy! We can’t wait to meet him!

We had our baby shower this past weekend, and finished all the classes, so we are ready I think. Ready for the next chapter! Chapter 5: Parenthood!

I had my 28th birthday also, and spent it in Megan style: With my feet up on the recliner, eating Outback Steakhouse take out, and watching HBO/Showtime series on TV. It was honestly really great, because I didn’t have the energy for anything else! Also, my husband was so gracious to get me the CS4 suite, and that has made me a lot more creative lately.

Well, up to about the last two weeks I was really creative, now, not so much. But I think I am getting my energy back a little bit. Which is spent on “nesting”. We got L’s room all ready, and pulled up the nasty carpet in the front room. Slowly but surely this big new house is turning into ours…it’s amazing how a coat of paint can make it feel like home!

Speaking of creativity, it has been mostly spent on web design. I am doing our cousin Katie’s photography site and having a lot of fun with it. It is boosting my confidence that yes, maybe I could freelance and be okay! But I have to get the mommy routine down first. Matt works from home, and supports us that way pretty well, so he and I decided that me taking some time off to be mommy for a couple of years is pretty okay! But I think I will want to go back to work eventually. And if I can start my own business, hey, even better! It’s not like I haven’t done it before!

Can you follow all that? Jeesh, they really aren’t kidding when it comes to preggo brain. I ramble constantly and rarely make any sense.

I’ll make sure and update more.
