It’s crazy how busy a 2 year old and a 3 month old can keep you! I keep trying to sit down and blog – alas – you know how it is!
This past weekend, my sister threw my niece, my brother in law, and I a birthday party. We all have birthdays in February, and doing one party is easier on everyones schedule instead of three separate ones. It’s usually my nieces birthday party, with the grow up thrown in – I don’t mind though. This year I got a Barbie party with a strawberry barbie cake (the kind where you stick a Barbie torso into a skirt cake) – Ha! But I did get some pretty awesome grown up gifts.
This past Christmas I got some Rachel Ray pots and pans from my inlaws, and my mom and dad got me the matching cooking utensils and the bubble & brown baking dishes!! They look pretty cool in my lime green kitchen (which, soon will be a celery green kitchen as the current green is a little too bright for my taste) and inspire me to cook more. I have been trying new recipes lately just so I can use my new stuff — thats as much motivation as any!
From my sister, I received a hand stamped necklace with EL and EMs name on it. I ADORE this piece. It’s from an Etsy seller – I’m not sure which one – but I never want to take it off! I need more jewelry in my life – and this was so special.
At this party, though, EM decided to go on eating strike. We were at my sisters for almost 9 hours and she didn’t eat, nor wanted to, the entire time. She also had a few crying fits, which isn’t EM at all. I don’t need to tell you how panicked I was on the way home, thinking something was terribly wrong with my baby. We got her home, and I immediately laid down on the bed with her and tried to comfort her to eat.
She cried and fussed so – thinking maybe she was too hot or something was poking her – I got her naked. She calmed down, and ate – and I was relieved. I inspected her clothes, and there wasn’t really anything pokey – so when she was done nursing, I went to put her back in them… and noticed that her clothes smelled like perfume! Just to test it, I put her back in her clothes. When she woke up later that night to nurse, she refused and fussed again – and again I got her naked, and again she nursed fine. It was definitely the perfume. So, now, whenever we visit someone (or when we went to a friends house to get pictures done – which I am totally excited about ) I have to warn them not to wear perfume, or anything scented so that she doesn’t freak out.
My kids have the weirdest hang ups. And, apparently, very sensitive sniffers.
Any way – I have so much to post about, we had a great valentines day and I did some crafts with the kids. I have also been trying to stuff away from the computer on my down time, like trying out sewing patterns I find on Pinterest. I will try to get some more blogging in this week.
BTW – Don’t you just love Pinterest?
