Allergic to Marriage? Rash under wedding band :(

I am allergic to my wedding ring.

Seriously.

I stopped wearing it for a while, and felt …I don’t know..naughty.

So I put it back on, thinking maybe the terrible rash I got before was something else.

Nope.

My finger swelled up to the point where it took me 2 hours of tugging and soap and spit and teeth to get it off.

Now, I am ringless. And sad. I tried just wearing my engagement ring for a while…but got tired of people thinking I was just engaged. *sigh* What could it be? They are both gold – so that can’t be it. My wedding band has diamonds set into it — am I allergic to *gasp* diamonds???

If so, I don’t want to live!!

Just kidding.

*sigh*

Now I have this lovely scar wrapping around my ring finger…like a skin ring.

Maybe I should just get a tattoo.

Not sure if anyone said this but you could get a tattoo of a wedding ring on your finger! :) Then you'd never loose it! :) HA HA.

I have no suggestions for being allergic to gold...or possibly diamonds. That sucks.

Anyway I found your button on bloggy moms and now following you.

Visit me sometime! :D

oh, my aunt was just like this. I swear I have a form of this as well, my ears get hot when I wear earrings. And yep, time to upgrade to Platinum, baby!

It could be one of the alloy metals in with the gold that you are allergic to, depending on what color it is. Definitely check with your jeweler! And you can always pick up an inexpensive sterling silver and CZ set in the meantime (if you're not allergic to silver), if you really want to make it look like you're married. :) Plus that will be nice to have around if you ever travel and don't want to take an expensive wedding set with you.

I am not allergic to any metals, but I can't wear costume jewelry rings - my acid hands burn right through the coating and it makes my finger turn green! My hands just have expensive taste, they can only wear precious metals, lol.

I've noticed lately that most rings aren't solid gold. Mine for example is white gold, it has a rhodium plating over a nickel base. I'm allergic to both nickel and tin, and have to have it replated on a regular basis or I'll get a horrible rash. Keeping my finger dry helps. I'd call your jeweler and ask if your ring has a base metal in it that you could be allergic to.

Just means it's time to check out an upgrade to plantinum. Lol
